Artworks made for Virginia Quarterly Review in response to three short stories.

‘The Black Kite and The Wind’ written by Erin Connal follows a group of youths disillusioned with wealthy communities and the large properties those inhabitants occupy.

‘Sun Prairie Events’ written by Lydia Conlon follows a compelling narrative of a woman struggling with poverty, a difficult partner and the task of raising a small baby. Drawn to the escapism of the digital world, her offline self and digital life eventually coalesce, set against the backdrop of Midwest America.

‘Vanishing Point’ written by Olivia Parkes follows the escapades of a mother breaking her son out of prison with a ghostly twist and vivid imagery of desert landscapes.
